We are passionate about helping kids by helping their parents heal from past hurts to move forward with renewed strength and confidence in their parenting capabilities. To make these groups a safe space, we have a couple of guidelines that we will ask you to honor.
Group rules:
Confidentiality in what is shared.
There is a lot of freedom in anonymity, but that does not mean we can share any details of what is shared in our groups. We need to treat others with honor and respect their feelings, vulnerability and trust.
Respect for others opinions and beliefs.
Jesus meets us daily where we are at. We need to treat others who are struggling with the same grace as Jesus gave us.
An overview of the training model. The first level focuses on God as the Creator and how a relationship with Him is the foundation for effective parenting or Care Giving, including the role of parents/care givers in God’s plan for families.
A journey of self-discovery, looking at the different influences that shapes one’s current state of parenting. Concepts introduced challenge parents/care givers to evaluate their own competencies to generate strategies for areas that need improvement.
Parents/Care Givers will learn about the essential components that promote healthy family development and community connections by exploring attachment theory and how sensitive, responsive caregiving helps to develop a secure base of trust, allowing children to explore the larger world and relationships.
Helping parents/care givers understand that their effectiveness is greatly influenced by the nature and quality of the parent/care giver-child connection. The strength of the connection determines children’s ability to self-regulate as they take emotional cues from their parents or care givers.
Parent-/Care Giver-Child relationships exist within the context of other human and environmental influences. How the environment and the quality thereof influence development, behavior, and parenting styles will be explored, including strategies for creating supportive environments.
Problem solving abilities are fundamental skills needed to survive and thrive in today’s competitive environment. This session focuses on identifying strategies for the development of problem solving skills in both adults and children.
Learning when to ask for outside help and identifying resources within the community that will provide additional support and help in the form of interventions and tools for parents in crisis.
The Core Program can be done in different formats:
1 session = 90min
