We aim to create a safe space for all participants to heal and grow and for this reason our Healing Groups are closed groups, which means visitors aren't allowed and no new participants can join after the group started. Groups are online, free of charge and the group sizes are limited to 12.
We are trained facilitators through the American Bible Society which is a partner in the Trauma Healing Institute.
The Trauma Healing Institute Method.
Our method is simple. It brings a group of people together in a safe place, where they can help each other heal. It is a holistic and Bible-based approach to helping people heal from trauma that recognizes that trauma affects every part of a person: mind, body and spirit. The lessons use art, stories, activities and questions to help people engage deeply with themselves, with God, and with each other.
At the heart of our method is a book called "Healing the Wounds of Trauma", which contains a set of practical lessons that lead people on a journey of healing. At the heart of the book is the Bible, which tells us about the love of God. The book and supporting materials are available in over 150 languages, and new translations are being added all the time.
It is grounded in proven mental health practices and the wisdom of the Bible
It’s designed for anyone to use, with simple language and clear ideas that are easy to understand. It works in small groups, led by trained facilitators who don’t need to be professional counselors.
THI trains and equips people and organizations to put this method into practice themselves, in their own work and ministry. Worldwide there are 16349 Trained Facilitators, 130006 people who have participated in Healing Groups, 692 Organizations involved.
It is part of the THI Alliance, which is a group of organizations that are deeply committed to the HWT (Healing the Wounds of Trauma) approach, and are working collaboratively by coordinating activity and sharing resources and ideas.
We are a global collaboration of ministries dedicated to helping people around the world heal from the pain of trauma. For more information visit https://traumahealinginstitute.org
Some experiences in life are so painful, they cause deep and lasting suffering. That suffering is what we call “trauma”.Trauma is a deep wound of the heart and mind that takes a long time to heal. It hurts every part of us: our relationships, our bodies, our thoughts, and our faith. Our unique method of trauma healing unites proven mental health practices and engagement with God through the Bible.
The total number of hours for the core material is 12 hrs(6 lessons x 2 hours each)
The Core Lessons can be done in different formats:
We do virtual and in-person sessions. We ask organizations to cover our travel and accommodations for in-person conferences outside of a 20 mile radius, but our time is a gift. We are based in the Houston, Texas area.
These sessions are intended for:
• Women ages 18+, who have experienced hardships and hurts in the past and struggle to live life to the fullest in the present, knowing they are still dealing with the pain of these wounds of the heart.
• Caregivers and those working with people from hard places (e.g. Anti-sex trafficking volunteers), or those who would want to explore becoming a trauma healing facilitator so that they can provide basic care for those wounded by trauma and loss.
During the 7 weeks of the group we will take you through a process to deal with hurts of the heart that will bring you to a place of healing. Each 2 hour lesson is one step in the process and will be the foundation for the next lesson. It is important to walk through each step in the process to ultimately get to a place of healing.
Session 1: Introduction to program and answering the question: What is a Heart wound?
Session 2: How can the Wounds of the heart be healed.
Session 3: If God loves us, why do we Suffer?
Session 4: What happens when someone is grieving?
Session 5: Taking our pain to the Cross
Session 6: How can we forgive others?
